Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 small Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 200 grams Button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into oval patties, about 1-inch thick.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and butter. Once melted, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and tender.

Step 5

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked mushrooms and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Step 6

Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until thickened into a gravy consistency.

Step 7

Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes to ensure the patties are fully cooked and infused with flavor.

Step 8

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, and serve hot with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
