Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef
  • 1 medium, diced Onion
  • 12 ounces Egg noodles
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (12 ounces) Evaporated milk
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (optional) Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease. Season the beef mixture with salt and pepper.

Step 3

While the beef is cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and evaporated milk. Mix until smooth.

Step 5

Add the cooked ground beef mixture and cooked egg noodles to the soup mixture. Stir until everything is well coated.

Step 6

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Spread it out evenly.

Step 7

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Step 8

If using breadcrumbs, sprinkle them on top of the cheese for extra crunch and texture.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. If desired, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes to brown the top slightly.

Step 10

Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy this hearty and creamy Amish comfort food!
