Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Red onion
  • 3 tbsp Barbecue sauce
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 Hamburger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 0.25 cup Pickled jalapeños
  • 1 Avocado
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, finely chopped red onion, barbecue sauce, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.

Step 2

Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1 inch thick. Place them on a plate and refrigerate for 10 minutes to help them firm up.

Step 3

Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat and lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Cook the turkey patties for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt it.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, butter the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

Step 6

Mash the avocado in a small bowl and season with a pinch of salt and pepper for a creamy topping.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers: Spread the mashed avocado on the bottom bun, add a lettuce leaf, a turkey patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a few pickled jalapeños. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes or fries for a complete meal.
