  • 1 medium Cucumber
  • 0.5 pounds Fresh tuna (for Spicy Tuna Roll)
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Toasted sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the sushi rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.

Add the rinsed rice and water to a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 18-20 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes.

For a Spicy Tuna Roll: Spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch gap at the top. Spread the spicy tuna mixture evenly over the rice. Roll tightly and seal using the mat.

For a Cucumber Roll: Spread sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch gap at the top. Arrange cucumber matchsticks in the middle and roll tightly.

Once rolled, slice each roll into 6-8 even pieces using a sharp, wet knife. Sprinkle the California Roll with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
