Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 250 milliliters Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Instant yeast
  • 300 grams Ground beef or lamb
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 large Red bell pepper
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 0.5 bunch Parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 Lemon

Directions

Step 1

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2

2. Make a well in the center of the flour, add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a rough dough forms.

Step 3

3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.

Step 4

4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Step 5

5. While the dough is rising, prepare the topping. Finely chop the onion, garlic, red bell pepper, and parsley, or use a food processor to blend them.

Step 6

6. In a bowl, combine the minced meat, chopped vegetables, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, chili flakes, black pepper, and salt. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.

Step 7

7. Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F).

Step 8

8. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal parts and roll each piece into a thin round or oval shape, about 25 cm (10 inches) in diameter.

Step 9

9. Spread a thin layer of the topping mixture over each dough base, pressing lightly so it adheres well.

Step 10

10. Place the prepared lahmacun on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are crisp and the topping is cooked.

Step 11

11. Squeeze a little lemon juice over each lahmacun before serving. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley or serve with a side of salad.

Step 12

12. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Turkish Pizza.
