Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 2 sheets Frozen puff pastry
  • 1 medium Onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Defrost the puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes to let the spices bloom.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the chopped parsley and cilantro. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

Step 7

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 8

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets if necessary. Spread the cooled beef mixture evenly over each sheet, leaving a 1.5 cm (1/2 inch) border around the edges.

Step 9

Starting from one edge, roll each pastry sheet tightly into a log. Seal the edge with a bit of beaten egg to secure.

Step 10

Using a sharp knife, slice each log into 1.5 cm (1/2 inch) thick pinwheels. Place the pinwheels cut-side down onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 11

Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.

Step 13

Allow the pinwheels to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
