Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Tuna steaks
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped green onions (optional garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Finely grate the fresh ginger and mince the garlic. Set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the ginger, garlic, lime zest, lime juice, soy sauce, honey, and sesame oil to create the glaze.

Step 3

Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Once the skillet is hot, sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred level of doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 6

Lower the heat to medium, then pour the prepared glaze into the skillet. Bring it to a simmer while stirring, allowing it to thicken slightly, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Return the seared tuna steaks to the skillet, spooning the glaze over them to coat evenly.

Step 8

Cook for another 1-2 minutes, turning the steaks once to ensure they are well-glazed and warm.

Step 9

Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet, plate them, and drizzle any remaining glaze over the top.

Step 10

Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately.
