Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 0.75 cups Freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Orange zest
  • 0.25 cups Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Additional freshly squeezed orange juice (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well between each addition. Then, mix in the orange zest and vanilla extract.

Step 5

Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the orange juice to the butter mixture. Add the dry ingredients in three parts, and the orange juice and milk in two parts, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined – do not overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Tap the pan lightly on the counter to release any air bubbles.

Step 7

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 8

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice until smooth. Adjust the consistency with a bit more juice or sugar, if necessary.

Step 10

Once the cake is completely cool, drizzle the orange glaze over the top, letting it drip down the sides.

Step 11

Sprinkle orange zest over the cake for garnish.

Step 12

Slice, serve, and enjoy your Triple Orange Cake!
