Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup Potato, grated and squeezed dry
  • 0.25 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp Ground cloves
  • 0.25 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 large Egg
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter, softened
  • 0 Pickles (optional)
  • 4 slices Cheese slices (optional)
  • 4 leaves Lettuce (optional)
  • 0 Ketchup (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, grated potato, breadcrumbs, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, and egg. Mix everything together gently but thoroughly until evenly combined.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Place the patties on a plate or tray, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes to help them hold their shape.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat and lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Remove the patties from the refrigerator and cook them for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). If adding cheese slices, place them on the patties during the last minute of cooking and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, lightly butter the burger buns and toast them on the grill or in a heated skillet until golden brown.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add pickles, lettuce, ketchup, or any preferred toppings, and cover with the top half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve hot and enjoy your Tourtière Burgers with a side of fries or salad!
