Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 8 dill pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about ¾-inch thick and make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb. This helps the patties cook evenly.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or cooking surface to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached. For medium, the internal temperature should be 160°F.

Step 5

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt. Cover the grill or skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt faster.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, split the burger buns and spread the cut sides with butter. Toast them on a separate part of the grill or in a skillet until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with a lettuce leaf, a cooked burger patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, pickle slices, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a fresh salad.
