Ingredients

  • 500 grams ripe tomatoes
  • 4 whole red chillies
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 200 grams white sugar
  • 100 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 50 ml water

Directions

Step 1

Wash and chop the tomatoes into small chunks. Remove stems from the chillies and roughly chop them. If you want less heat, deseed the chillies.

Peel the garlic cloves and grate the ginger, setting them aside for use.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the chopped tomatoes, chillies, garlic, grated ginger, sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and water.
