Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Tuna fillets
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 piece Lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Pat the tuna fillets dry with a paper towel and season them with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 2

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, sear the tuna fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are browned on the outside but still slightly pink inside. Remove the tuna from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until it becomes fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Step 6

Stir in the cherry tomatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften and release their juices.

Step 7

Add the balsamic vinegar and lemon juice to the tomatoes, and stir to combine.

Step 8

Return the seared tuna fillets to the skillet, nestling them into the tomato mixture.

Step 9

Sprinkle the chopped basil leaves over the fillets and tomatoes, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 10

Remove from heat and serve the tomato basil tuna immediately, garnished with additional basil leaves if desired.
