Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry sheet
  • 3 medium ripe tomatoes
  • 10 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for rolling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, approximately 10x12 inches.

Step 3

Transfer the puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet. Using a knife, gently score a 1-inch border around the edge, being careful not to cut all the way through.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture evenly over the puff pastry, avoiding the scored edges.

Step 5

Slice the tomatoes into thin rounds and arrange them inside the scored border of the puff pastry, overlapping slightly as needed.

Step 6

Tear the basil leaves and scatter them over the tomatoes.

Step 7

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the tomatoes and basil, followed by the parmesan cheese.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Step 10

Garnish with additional fresh basil leaves if desired, and enjoy!
