Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) Firm tofu
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon, plus extra for greasing Olive oil
  • 0.75 cup Pizza sauce
  • 1 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup Bell peppers, sliced
  • 0.5 cup Mushrooms, sliced
  • 0.25 cup Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup Black olives, sliced
  • 5 pieces (optional) Fresh basil leaves

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with olive oil.

Step 2

Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. You can use a tofu press or wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Crumble the pressed tofu into a large mixing bowl until it resembles fine crumbs.

Step 4

Add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, dried oregano, and salt to the bowl with the crumbled tofu. Mix well until a dough-like consistency forms.

Step 5

Knead the dough lightly with your hands, then transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Press and shape the mixture into a thin, round pizza crust, about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 6

Brush the crust with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and bake it in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden and firm to the touch.

Step 7

Remove the crust from the oven and spread the pizza sauce evenly over the top, leaving about 1/2 inch of space around the edges.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the bell peppers, mushrooms, red onion, and black olives.

Step 9

Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 10

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Step 11

Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade tofu pizza!
