Ingredients

  • 400 grams firm tofu
  • 30 grams fresh ginger
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 60 milliliters water
  • 1 piece red bell pepper
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 4 cups cooked jasmine rice

Directions

Step 1

Drain the tofu, wrap it in a clean kitchen towel, and place a heavy object on top for 15 minutes to press out excess moisture. Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

Peel and finely grate the ginger. Mince the garlic. Thinly slice the red bell pepper and chop the green onions into 1-inch pieces.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water to create the sauce. Set aside.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
