Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons spicy mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 4 slices black forest ham
  • 4 slices genoa salami
  • 2 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup mixed greens
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 0.25 small red onion
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a pan or griddle over medium heat.

Step 2

Brush one side of each slice of sourdough bread with olive oil. Lay them down on a cutting board, oiled side facing out.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the spicy mustard and honey until combined. Spread the mixture onto the un-oiled sides of the bread.

Step 4

Slice the tomato into thin rounds and the red onion into thin rings. Set aside.

Step 5

Layer 2 slices of black forest ham, 2 slices of genoa salami, and 1 slice of provolone cheese onto two of the bread slices, mustard side up.

Step 6

Add a handful of mixed greens, then top with a few slices of tomato and a few rings of red onion. Season with salt and black pepper.

Step 7

Place the remaining slices of bread on top, mustard side down, to form two sandwiches.

Step 8

Place the sandwiches on the preheated pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side, pressing gently with a spatula to encourage browning.

Step 9

Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook an additional 2-3 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Step 10

Remove the sandwiches from the pan, slice each in half, and serve immediately.
