Ingredients

  • 6 oz canned tuna, drained
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pieces sandwich bread, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced

Directions

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, chopped celery, and chopped red onion. Mix well until evenly combined.

Step 2

Season the tuna mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir again to fully incorporate the seasoning.

Step 3

Lightly butter one side of each bread slice.

Step 4

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the slices of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet. Toast for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and let cool slightly.

Step 5

On the non-buttered side of two bread slices, spread an even amount of the tuna salad mixture.

Step 6

Top the tuna salad with a lettuce leaf and slices of tomato.

Step 7

Place the remaining toasted bread slices on top, buttered side facing out.

Step 8

Cut each sandwich in half, if desired, and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly made tuna sandwich!
