Ingredients

  • 500 g beef sirloin steak
  • 200 g mixed salad greens
  • 200 g cherry tomatoes
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 small red onion
  • 15 g fresh cilantro
  • 15 g fresh mint
  • 2 pieces Thai bird’s eye chili
  • 4 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp palm sugar
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Season the beef sirloin steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Allow it to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until your desired doneness is achieved. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Step 3

While the steak is cooking and resting, prepare the vegetables. Halve the cherry tomatoes, slice the cucumber into thin rounds, and thinly slice the red onion.

Step 4

Chop the fresh cilantro and mint leaves. For a milder heat, deseed the Thai bird’s eye chilies before finely slicing; otherwise, slice them whole for more spice.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix together the lime juice, fish sauce, and palm sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved to create the dressing.

Step 6

In a large salad bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, and mint. Toss gently to mix.

Step 7

Add the sliced beef and Thai chilies to the salad bowl.

Step 8

Pour the dressing over the salad and gently toss to ensure everything is well coated.

Step 9

Serve the Thai Style Beef Salad immediately as a light main course or side dish. Enjoy!
