Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground pork
  • 2 lemongrass stalks (finely chopped or grated)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (freshly grated)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 red chili (finely chopped, optional for spice)
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 3 tablespoons cilantro (finely chopped)
  • 2 green onions (finely sliced)
  • 2 puff pastry sheets
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, lemongrass, ginger, garlic, red chili (if using), fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, lime zest, cilantro, and green onions. Mix until well combined.

Step 3

On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets (if not pre-rolled) to about 3mm thick. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise to create 4 long strips in total.

Step 4

Divide the pork mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a long sausage shape, approximately the same length as the pastry strips.

Step 5

Place one sausage-shaped portion of the pork mixture along the center of each pastry strip.

Step 6

Brush one edge of the pastry strip lightly with beaten egg to help seal. Fold the other side of the pastry over the pork mixture and press to seal the edges tightly. Place the seam side down on the parchment-lined baking tray.

Step 7

Brush the tops of the sausage rolls with beaten egg and, if desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Step 8

Using a sharp knife, cut each long roll into 3-4 smaller pieces, depending on your preferred serving size.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the pork filling is cooked through.

Step 10

Allow the sausage rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce.
