Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Chicken wings
  • 0.5 cups Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 0.25 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 stalks Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and water to make the teriyaki marinade.

Step 2

Place the chicken wings in a large resealable freezer-safe bag or container. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken wings, reserving the other half for later. Seal the bag well and shake to coat the wings evenly.

Step 3

If making this as an OAMC dish, label the bag with the recipe name and date, and freeze at this point. Chicken wings can be stored in the freezer for up to 1 month. Thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours before cooking.

Step 4

Prepare the reserved marinade by heating it in a small saucepan over medium heat. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to form a slurry. Once the marinade begins to simmer, whisk in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 5

When ready to cook, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack.

Step 6

Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F or 74°C).

Step 7

Brush the thickened teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken wings for an extra layer of flavor.

Step 8

Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, and serve immediately.
