Ingredients

  • 4 Apples (medium-sized, firm varieties like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 2 Black tea bags (or chai tea for a spiced flavor)
  • 500 ml Water
  • 4 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons Raisins
  • 4 tablespoons Chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add the tea bags and steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and set the brewed tea aside.

Step 3

Wash and core the apples, making sure to leave the bottom intact to create a small cavity for the filling. Brush the inside of the apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix together the raisins, chopped walnuts (or pecans), and ground cinnamon. Divide this mixture evenly among the apples, stuffing it into the cavities.

Step 5

Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish. Add 1/2 tablespoon of butter on top of each stuffing mixture.

Step 6

Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey over each apple.

Step 7

Pour the brewed tea into the baking dish around the apples.

Step 8

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to let the tops caramelize.

Step 9

Remove the apples from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
