Ingredients

  • 2 5-ounce cans (drained) Canned tuna
  • 0.333 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (chopped) Fresh tarragon
  • 2 stalks (finely sliced) Green onion
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 slices Sourdough bread slices
  • 2 tablespoons (softened) Unsalted butter
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped fresh tarragon, green onions, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix together until evenly combined.

Step 3

Lightly spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

Step 4

Place the buttered side of the bread down on a baking sheet. Divide the tuna mixture evenly among the four slices, spreading it in an even layer on the unbuttered side of the bread.

Step 5

Top each tuna-topped slice with one slice of cheddar cheese.

Step 6

Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 7-8 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the bread edges are lightly toasted.

Step 7

Switch the oven to broil mode and broil for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to ensure the cheese becomes golden but does not burn.

Step 8

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the melts cool slightly before serving.

Step 9

Serve hot as is, or with a side of salad or soup for a complete meal.
