Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup Tequila
  • 0.25 cup Lime juice
  • 3 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 0.5 tsp Red chili flakes

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.

Step 2

Using your hands, form the mixture into small, bite-sized meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a tray or plate.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove the browned meatballs and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 4

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium-low and carefully add the tequila, lime juice, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, and red chili flakes. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 5

Return the meatballs to the skillet, tossing them gently in the tequila-lime glaze to coat evenly. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the meatballs to soak in the sauce and cook through completely.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the meatballs to a serving dish. Garnish with extra chopped cilantro, if desired.

Step 7

Serve warm as an appetizer or pair with rice or noodles for a main course. Enjoy!
