Ingredients

  • 500 grams broccoli
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 zest of lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the broccoli thoroughly, then cut the florets into bite-sized pieces. Peel the tough outer layer of the broccoli stems and slice them thinly.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a pinch of salt. Blanch the broccoli for 2-3 minutes, just until the florets are vibrant green and slightly tender.

Step 3

Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After 2 minutes, drain and pat the broccoli dry with a clean kitchen towel.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 5

Mince the garlic and sauté it in the olive oil for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using).

Step 7

Add the cooked broccoli to the skillet and toss it gently in the garlic oil for 2 minutes to heat through.

Step 8

Pour the tangy lemon sauce over the broccoli and toss to coat evenly. Cook for an additional minute to meld the flavors.

Step 9

If desired, sprinkle slivered almonds over the top for added texture and flavor.

Step 10

Serve immediately as a side dish or light main, and enjoy your Tangy Broccoli!
