Ingredients

  • 500 grams ripe tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 0.25 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 inch piece, finely chopped ginger
  • 2 finely chopped green chilies
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped fresh coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and chop them into small pieces.

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.

Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Allow them to splutter for a few seconds.

Add the asafoetida, ginger, and green chilies to the pan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the ginger becomes aromatic.
