Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Apple butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups Buttermilk
  • 0.5 cups Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set this mixture aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

Mix in the apple butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Step 6

Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the dry ingredient mixture in three additions, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

Step 7

If using nuts, gently fold them into the batter with a spatula.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.

Step 10

Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
