Ingredients

  • 250 grams All-purpose flour
  • 150 milliliters Warm water
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh rosemary leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Coarse sea salt (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

Add the olive oil, salt, rosemary, and flour to the bowl. Mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until a dough forms.

Step 3

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 4-5 minutes on medium speed.

Step 4

Lightly oil a clean bowl, place the dough inside, and cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap. Allow it to rise in a warm spot for 45-60 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 6

Punch down the risen dough and transfer it back to a floured surface. Divide it into 12 equal portions.

Step 7

Roll each portion into a thin breadstick, approximately 12 inches long. Place the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Step 8

Optional: Brush the breadsticks lightly with olive oil and sprinkle them with coarse sea salt for extra flavor and texture.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and crisp.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow the breadsticks to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
