Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon white pepper
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

Begin by toasting the sesame seeds: heat a small skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds.

Step 2

Stir continuously for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until the seeds are golden brown and fragrant. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, combine the toasted sesame seeds with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 4

Add in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of water, mixing until well combined.

Step 5

Peel and finely mince 1 clove of garlic, then add it to the bowl.

Step 6

Peel and finely grate 1 teaspoon of ginger, then add it to the bowl along with 0.5 teaspoon of white pepper.

Step 7

Whisk the mixture thoroughly until all ingredients are fully incorporated and the dressing is smooth.

Step 8

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more soy sauce for saltiness or sugar for sweetness as preferred.

Step 9

Transfer the dressing into a jar or container and let it sit for at least 15 minutes to meld the flavors before using.

Step 10

Store in the refrigerator for up to a week, shaking well before each use.
