Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French baguette
  • 2 whole Garlic bulb
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Cut off the top 1/4-inch of each garlic bulb to expose the cloves. Place the bulbs cut-side up on a piece of aluminum foil.

Step 3

Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over each garlic bulb, then sprinkle with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Wrap the bulbs tightly in the foil and place them on a baking sheet.

Step 4

Roast the garlic in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the cloves are golden and soft. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.

Step 5

While the garlic is roasting, slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices. Arrange the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Step 6

Brush both sides of each baguette slice with the remaining olive oil (approximately 2 tablespoons) and sprinkle lightly with salt.

Step 7

Bake the baguette slices in the oven for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.

Step 8

Once the garlic is cool enough to handle, squeeze the roasted cloves out of the skins and mash them into a smooth paste with a fork.

Step 9

Spread the roasted garlic paste onto each toasted baguette slice. If desired, garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a burst of color and flavor.

Step 10

Serve the roasted garlic crostini immediately as an appetizer or snack.
