Ingredients

  • 750 ml Red wine (dry or semi-dry)
  • 120 ml Orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
  • 60 ml Brandy
  • 30 ml Simple syrup (or honey, optional)
  • 1 medium Orange
  • 1 medium Lemon
  • 1 medium Lime
  • 1 medium Apple (any crisp variety)
  • 100 grams Fresh strawberries (optional)
  • 240 ml Club soda or sparkling water (for topping)
  • 200 grams Ice cubes

Directions

Step 1

1. Wash all fruits thoroughly under cool running water.

Step 2

2. Slice the orange, lemon, and lime into thin rounds. Leave the peels on for added flavor and visual appeal.

Step 3

3. Core and dice the apple into bite-sized pieces. Optional: hull and slice the fresh strawberries.

Step 4

4. In a large pitcher, combine the sliced fruits and diced apple. Add the brandy, orange juice, and simple syrup (if using) to the pitcher.

Step 5

5. Pour the entire bottle of red wine into the pitcher. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.

Step 6

6. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

7. Before serving, give the sangria a gentle stir, and taste. Adjust the sweetness with additional simple syrup or honey if desired.

Step 8

8. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the sangria over the ice, including some of the fruit pieces in each glass.

Step 9

9. Top each glass with a splash of club soda or sparkling water for added fizz.

Step 10

10. Garnish with a slice of orange or a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
