Ingredients

  • 8 cups Stale red velvet cake or red velvet loaf
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 pieces Large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter (melted, for greasing the pan)
  • 0.5 cups White chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 cup Fresh whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with the melted unsalted butter.

Step 2

Cut the stale red velvet cake or loaf into 1-inch cubes. Spread the cubes evenly in the greased baking dish.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until fully combined and smooth.

Step 4

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cake cubes in the baking dish, pressing down lightly to ensure all the cake cubes absorb the liquid.

Step 5

Sprinkle the white chocolate chips evenly over the top of the pudding mixture.

Step 6

Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to fully soak up the custard.

Step 7

Bake the bread pudding in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is set, lightly browned, and slightly puffed. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out clean.

Step 8

Remove the bread pudding from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Dust the top with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm with fresh whipped cream or your favorite ice cream.
