Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 3.5 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons dry ranch seasoning mix
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 0.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch and ensure fluffy rice.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan or pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat the grains in the butter. Toast the rice for 2-3 minutes until it’s lightly golden and fragrant.

Step 4

Pour in the chicken broth, then stir in the dry ranch seasoning mix, salt, and black pepper.

Step 5

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.

Step 6

Simmer the rice for 18-20 minutes, or until all the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender.

Step 7

Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the rice to steam and finish cooking.

Step 8

Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese until fully combined and creamy.

Step 9

Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if needed.

Step 10

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve warm.
