Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Warm the milk and butter together in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted. Let it cool to a lukewarm temperature.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour with the sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 3

Pour the lukewarm milk mixture into the dry ingredients. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Mix well until combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining flour (about 2 cups) to form a soft dough. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.

Step 5

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Incorporate the raisins into the dough during the final stages of kneading.

Step 7

Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to coat the top. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm, draft-free area until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.

Step 8

Punch down the dough to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a roll.

Step 9

Place the rolls on a lined baking sheet, leaving room between each. Cover and let rise again until puffy, about 30 minutes.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during the second rise.

Step 11

Brush the tops of the rolls with the tablespoon of milk. This will give them a lovely golden color when baked.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 13

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your homemade raisin rolls fresh!
