Ingredients

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 unit red chili, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 units egg
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 1 unit lime, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Cook the instant ramen noodles according to package instructions, but slightly undercook them by 1 minute. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Sauté the minced garlic, sliced chili, and onion until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 4

Add the carrot and cabbage to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.

Step 5

Push the vegetables to one side of the wok and crack the eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked, then mix them with the vegetables.

Step 6

Add the cooked noodles to the wok and toss with the vegetables and eggs.

Step 7

Stir in the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Mix well to evenly coat the noodles.

Step 8

Add the bean sprouts and green onions to the wok. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, tossing everything together.

Step 9

Serve the Mee Goreng hot, garnished with lime wedges for squeezing over the top before eating.
