  • 800 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 unit bay leaf
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 to taste salt
  • 1 to taste black pepper
  • 500 grams penne pasta
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 0.25 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add chopped onion, carrot, and celery and cook for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef and pork, breaking the meat apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 10 minutes.
