Ingredients

  • 2 racks Pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

Prepare the ribs by removing the membrane from the back of each rack. Use a sharp knife to loosen one corner, then grip with a paper towel and peel it off.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper if using.

Step 4

Rub both sides of the ribs generously with olive oil to help the seasoning stick.

Step 5

Evenly coat the ribs with the prepared spice mixture, massaging it into the meat to ensure it’s well-seasoned.

Step 6

Wrap each rack of ribs tightly in aluminum foil, sealing the edges to create a packet that will trap steam. Place the packets on a large baking sheet, meat side up.

Step 7

Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours. This slow cooking process will make them tender and juicy.

Step 8

Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and increase the temperature to 425°F (220°C).

Step 9

Unwrap the ribs and discard the foil. Brush both sides generously with barbecue sauce.

Step 10

Return the ribs to the baking sheet, meat side up, and bake for an additional 20–30 minutes until the sauce becomes caramelized and slightly sticky.

Step 11

Allow the ribs to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
