Ingredients

  • 500 grams Shrimp (large, peeled and deveined)
  • 500 grams Steak (sirloin or ribeye, cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 whole Red bell pepper (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1 whole Yellow bell pepper (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 1 whole Red onion (cut into wedges)
  • 60 ml Soy sauce
  • 15 ml Sesame oil
  • 30 ml Honey
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger (grated)
  • 15 ml Lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 stalks Green onion (sliced thinly, for garnish, optional)
  • 8 pieces Wooden or metal skewers

Directions

Step 1

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.

Step 2

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, ginger, and lime juice to create the oriental marinade.

Step 3

Add the shrimp and steak cubes to the marinade. Toss to coat well, cover the bowl, and refrigerate for 20 minutes to marinate.

Step 4

While the shrimp and steak are marinating, prepare the vegetables by cutting the bell peppers into 1-inch squares and the onion into wedges.

Step 5

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C or 400°F). If using an oven, preheat the broiler.

Step 6

Thread the marinated shrimp, steak cubes, and vegetables alternately onto skewers. Aim for a balanced distribution of flavors and colors on each skewer.

Step 7

Brush the skewers lightly with any remaining marinade before grilling.

Step 8

Place the kabobs on the preheated grill or under the broiler. Cook for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness and shrimp are pink and opaque.

Step 9

Once cooked, remove the kabobs from the grill and transfer them to a serving platter.

Step 10

Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion slices, if desired. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
