Ingredients

  • 250 grams ground chicken or pork
  • 50 grams shredded carrots
  • 50 grams finely chopped cabbage
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes or Sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 20 pieces spring roll wrappers
  • 1 piece egg (beaten)
  • 500 milliliters vegetable oil (for frying)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or pork, shredded carrots, chopped cabbage, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

Step 2

Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, chili flakes or Sriracha, and sesame oil to the mixture. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

Step 3

Lay out one spring roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you, forming a diamond shape.

Step 4

Place 1 tablespoon of the filling near the bottom corner of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly to form a cylinder.

Step 5

Brush the top corner with a little beaten egg to seal the edge. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

Step 7

Carefully place the prepared rolls into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.

Step 8

Remove the firecrackers from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy-based dip.
