Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) canned Oregon albacore tuna, drained
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
  • 2 stalks green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 4 slices sourdough bread slices
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the drained Oregon albacore tuna, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, dill pickle relish, green onion, celery, lemon juice, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 2

Lay the sourdough bread slices on a clean surface. Butter one side of each slice generously.

Step 3

Flip the bread slices over (butter side down). On two of the slices, evenly distribute the tuna mixture.

Step 4

Top the tuna mixture with shredded cheddar cheese, dividing it equally between the two sandwiches.

Step 5

Place the remaining bread slices on top of the prepared sandwiches, butter side up.

Step 6

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet.

Step 7

Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Gently flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, ensuring the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.

Step 8

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly. Cut in half and serve warm.
