Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 1 orange Zest of an orange
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the orange juice, orange zest, honey, and minced garlic. Stir well to make the sauce base.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once heated, add the chicken breasts and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, pour in the sauce base and stir to combine, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Step 5

Add the chicken broth and fresh thyme to the skillet. Stir gently and let the mixture come to a simmer.

Step 6

Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over them and cover with a lid. Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Step 7

Remove the lid and let the sauce reduce slightly for an additional 2-3 minutes, basting the chicken with the sauce as it thickens.

Step 8

Turn off the heat and let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with additional thyme sprigs, if desired.

Step 9

Serve the Orange Thyme Chicken Breasts with rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables, drizzled with the flavorful sauce from the pan.
