Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Orange zest
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup Whole milk
  • 0.75 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Orange juice (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).

Step 4

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined; do not overmix.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top begins to brown too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil.

Step 8

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

While the cake cools, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of orange juice until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar or orange juice as needed.

Step 10

Once the cake is completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top. Allow the glaze to set for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
