Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar (for optional glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (for optional glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease the cups.

Step 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and orange zest. Ensure all dry ingredients are well combined.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, sour cream, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth and well blended.

Step 4

Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients using a spatula. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix the batter.

Step 5

Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with the batter.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove the muffins from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

For the optional glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and orange juice in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled muffins for an added touch of sweetness and citrus flavor.

Step 9

Serve and enjoy your Orange Cream Muffins!
