Ingredients

  • 500 ml Fresh orange juice
  • 150 g Granulated sugar
  • 250 ml Water
  • 1 tbsp Orange blossom water
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Orange zest

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved to create a simple syrup. This should take about 5 minutes. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.

Step 2

While the syrup is cooling, zest one orange to gather 1 teaspoon of orange zest and squeeze fresh oranges to produce 500 ml of juice. Strain the orange juice through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pulp and seeds.

Step 3

Once the simple syrup has cooled, mix it thoroughly with the orange juice, orange zest, lemon juice, and orange blossom water in a large mixing bowl.

Step 4

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours or until completely cold.

Step 5

Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20-25 minutes).

Step 6

If you do not have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow freezer-safe dish and freeze. Stir the mixture vigorously with a fork every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals until it reaches a smooth sorbet consistency (approximately 3-4 hours).

Step 7

Transfer the finished sorbet into an airtight container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours to firm up before serving.

Step 8

Scoop into bowls or cones and serve immediately for a refreshing treat.
