Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank steak
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 0.33 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp Orange zest
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Fresh ginger, grated
  • 0.25 tsp Red pepper flakes
  • 4 stalks Green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 seconds Cooking spray
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Slice the flank steak into thin strips against the grain. Pat dry with paper towels, then toss the beef with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch in a large bowl to evenly coat.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, orange juice, orange zest, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Spray with cooking spray for about 2 seconds.

Step 4

Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes per side or until browned. Do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Remove the beef and set aside.

Step 5

Lower the heat to medium and pour the orange sauce mixture into the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously, until the sauce begins to thicken.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another minute until the beef is well-covered and heated through.

Step 7

Remove from heat and serve immediately. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.

Step 8

Serve alongside steamed vegetables or brown rice for a balanced meal.
