Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 large Yellow onion
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup Fresh chives
  • 0.5 cup Cream cheese
  • 4 pieces Pita breads
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and thinly slice the yellow onions.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and stir occasionally to coat them evenly in the oil.

Sprinkle the sugar, salt, and black pepper over the onions. Continue cooking on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes until the onions are caramelized and golden brown. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

While the onions cook, finely chop the fresh chives and set them aside.
