Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef sirloin steak
  • 1 large Red bell pepper
  • 1 large Green bell pepper
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 0.33 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef sirloin steak into strips, about 1/4-inch thick. Set aside.

Step 2

Slice the red and green bell peppers into thin strips, and thinly slice the onion. Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, and brown sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Step 4

In another small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. This will be your thickening slurry.

Step 5

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Add the beef strips to the hot skillet. Sprinkle with ground black pepper and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 7

Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Step 8

Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the soy sauce mixture and stir to combine.

Step 9

Pour the cornstarch slurry into the skillet, stirring constantly to thicken the sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is glossy and coats the beef and vegetables evenly.

Step 10

Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked white rice.
