Ingredients

  • 120 grams All-purpose flour
  • 150 grams Rolled oats
  • 100 grams Brown sugar
  • 100 grams Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons Boiling water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the golden syrup until fully incorporated. Remove from heat.

Step 4

In a separate small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in the boiling water.

Step 5

Slowly add the dissolved baking soda mixture to the melted butter and syrup mixture. Be cautious as it may bubble slightly.

Step 6

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly until the mixture comes together and forms a sticky dough.

Step 7

Using a spoon or scoop, divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball. Place them onto the prepared baking tray, leaving enough space between each for spreading.

Step 8

Press down gently on each ball to flatten slightly into a disc shape.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes or until the Oat Crunchies are golden brown and crisp around the edges.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Serve and enjoy your delicious homemade Oat Crunchies or store them in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
