Ingredients

  • 4 medium (about 500 grams) Tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 3 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon, grated Fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 small, finely chopped (adjust to taste) Green chilies
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon (or to taste) Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons, finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Lime juice

Directions

Step 1

Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and cut them into rough chunks.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.

Step 3

Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until aromatic.

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.

Stir in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the turmeric powder and red chili powder. Stir well to combine and cook for 30 seconds.

Add the chopped tomatoes along with the salt and sugar. Mix everything well.
