Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.75 cups unsalted butter
  • 1.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until incorporated after each addition to avoid overmixing.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 8

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once the cake has cooled, dust the top with confectioners' sugar before serving.
