Ingredients

  • 250 grams Sorghum (Jowar) flour
  • 200 milliliters Water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee or oil (optional for cooking)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sorghum flour and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture while stirring continuously to form a soft dough.

Step 3

Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and pliable. If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour; if it feels dry, add a little more water.

Step 4

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each into a smooth ball.

Step 5

Place a ball of dough on a clean, floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out into a circle about 6 inches in diameter. Keep the remaining dough covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.

Step 6

Heat a flat pan or tawa over medium heat.

Step 7

Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto the hot pan.

Step 8

Cook for about 2 minutes until small bubbles form on the surface.

Step 9

Flip the roti using a spatula and cook the other side for another 2 minutes. Lightly press the roti with a folded kitchen towel or spatula to help it puff up.

Step 10

Optionally, apply a thin layer of ghee or oil on each side of the roti for added flavor and softness.

Step 11

Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.

Step 12

Serve the freshly made jowar rotis hot with your favorite curry or vegetable dish.
